The Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) and Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) are both card-carrying leaders of the new alcohol Prohibition movement. MADD and CSPI collectively lobby on issues like raising beer taxes and restricting adult beverage advertisements. They even commission polling data together. Both groups are heavily funded by the anti-alcohol Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

Together, MADD and CASA represent some of the deepest pockets (outside of the government) engaged in attempts to limit adults’ choices regarding adult beverages. While they seldom work directly in concert, they do feed off of one another. A March 2000 conference held by CASA, for instance, featured MADD president Millie Webb as a keynote speaker (no doubt in an attempt to give the event some media urgency). MADD, on the other hand, operates an Internet clearinghouse for alcohol-related issues, and routinely passes along CASA's pronouncements, always taking them uncritically at face value.

In 2003 the Sierra Club and Mothers Against Drunk Driving joined trial lawyers in unsuccessfully opposing Proposition 12 in Texas, which brought sanity to fiscal awards from medical-malpractice and other lawsuits.
