Dakota Resource Council
The Powder River Basin Resource Council and Dakota Resource Council are both member groups of the Western Organization of Resource Councils (WORC).

The Powder River Basin Resource Council and Northern Plains Resource Council are both member groups of the Western Organization of Resource Councils (WORC).

Sierra Club
In 1998 Powder River Basin Council co-director Steve McConnel and Sierra Club lobbyist Steve Jones co-wrote a letter to the Wyoming Tribune-Eagle. In the letter the two proclaimed: "The brave talk of property rights … is mere rhetoric." The two groups have a collaborative history that dates back to 1984, when they joined to lobby against timber harvesting in Wyoming's National Forests.

Western Organization of Resource Councils
The Western Organization of Resource Councils is the parent organization of the Powder River Basin Resource Council. PRBRC has permanent seats on WORC’s board of directors, and regularly networks with WORC’s other member groups. WORC also regularly funds PRBRC in modest-to-medium amounts.
